The cruise control system allows users to set their desired speed and distance between cars that they want to use. The QX-56 front bumper is equipped with laser sensors that extend 390 feet in front. The laser sensor system will track upcoming vehicles and automatically slow the car down to keep it at a safe distance. As traffic clears, the QX-56 will automatically accelerate back up to the desired speed allowing drivers to avoid turning the cruise control on and off.
Additionally, the industry-first distance control w/throttle pushback system is on the Infiniti QX-56. The system is utilized in heavy traffic to react to traffic changes. When traffic slows down ahead, the system will respond to the driver releasing the accelerator and will assist in easing the accelerator or even apply brakes if necessary. The Brake Assist with Preview system works the same way when a potential collision warning is alerted, it pre-pressurizes the brakes so that if emergency braking is needed, the brakes respond quickly.
Infiniti also added blind spot warnings and lane departure warning and prevention as other additional driving technologies added to the QX-56. When a driver puts their turn signal on and there is an obstruction in the lane they are switching to, the system will notify the driver of the obstruction to avoid a collision. Lane departure warnings are also given if the driver begins to creep over the line into the other lane. The lane departure prevention system will automatically slow the opposite two wheels to realign the vehicle back in the correct lane if necessary.
